So i'm raparing windows, i need to repair the explorer.exe file but the only one i can find on the disc is explorer.ex

is this the same file? I was think of (in repair console)

copy F:/I386/explorer.ex C:/Windows/explorer.exe

will this work or just ****** up my system?

Yes, this should be the same file. Just change the extension from .ex_ to .exe.

Why not Window's repair feature from the setup?

You can't simply change the extension, unless things have changed since the last time I did this. The files on the install CD with a trailing underscore are compressed. Use expand.exe to decompress them from the install CD to disk.

Yeah, forgot about that. Last time I tried that technique, I had to extract the file from Win98 cab files and then changing the extension. Thanks for correcting my forgetfulness!
