Repairing Win XP PRO

Some of my files was corrupted and my winxp is starting to behave weridly.

How do I go about repairing the OS without reformmating and reinstalling again?

I can vaguely remember that I used to repair from the disc... anyone have any tips?

thanks

Actually you can set your bios to boot from the xp install cd and proceed to reinstall xp on the same partition that you currently have it installed on. Before it reinstalls it gives you the option to repair the current installation. I have done this type of repair several times. It has worked great for me especially when my OS was so screwed up that it wouldn't load . I think it reinstalls the original system files and drivers. (hey nice avatar, percboy !)

One of the best things about XP has got to be it's ability to fix problems.

Before you do the REPAIR thing, you might alternatively try a SYSTEM RESTORE to a point in time when it worked well.
(Start/Help and Support/System Restore)

Just a thought, either option will probably work.
