Repairing small rip in LCD screen?

Sorry if this is discussed but I can't find it for some reason. While moving my LCD to another room today (and nothing touched the screen, don't know how this happened) I ended up with a thin, half-inch vertical "rip" on my screen. I'm afraid to try to clean it and rip it open further. Any techniques to minimize the effects? It's right in the middle and it's a nice LCD, so I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!
