Repairing a USB flash drive

My USB thumb drive had losing battle with a vacuum cleaner. The memory chip is almost completely ripped off the PCB. The PCB itself is also damaged.

A Google search returned some sites as well as youtube videos that said the memory chip can be re-soldered to the PCB to repair these. I would have to send if off to be repaired.

As anyone ever used one of these repair shops for this? Can the memory chip be soldered to another PCB to get the data off it?

If the chip wasn't physically destroyed or killed by static electricity in it's bout with the vacuum.
You stand a chance at recovery.
But "value" of that data would have to be very high to justify the cost of the repair.

Contact My Hard Drive Died with close up pictures of the damaged drive, to find out if recovery would be possible.
