Repairing a set of bose headphones

I have a set of bose tri-ports that I was very pleased with. But recently I have been having problems with one or both of the ear pieces cutting out while I am using them. I have to turn and jiggle the cord to fix the problem.

Is it easy for someone who is inexperienced to repair a problem like this?

It rather may be a problem with the headphone jack on the device you are plugging the set into. Try the headphones on a different device.

Insert Bose headphones into trash can. Purchase Sennheiser HD-580's or something like that.
