Thank you all for your suggestions...it worked using Drive Image booting from floppy, deleting all partitions under Drive Image, and then going into FDISK and repartitioning and formating.

OK, it has been too long and my memory is mush. I have an SCSI hard drive that due to a motherboard change will no longer boot Windows 2000. No problem, I figure. I boot into DOS from my floppy, go into FDISK, locate the drive and find:
No drive letter assigned
Parition: Active
Partition Type:Extended DOS
Usage: 100%
System: Nothing here..not FAT or anything

So, I try to Delete the Extended Partition, but cannot do so because it "cannot delete while a logical drive exists" in that partition.
OK, I try to Delete the Logical Drive, but cannot do so because "no logical drives are defined"
OK, I try to Delete a Non-DOS partition, but cannot because "a Non-DOS partition does not exist"
and, of course, I try to Delete a Primary Partition, but cannot because "there is no primary partition to delete".

I try to pull up the drive while in DOS to see if I can format it, but since it has not been assigned a drive letter, DOS does not "see" the drive.

Any ideas? I do not care about the data, I just want to format and wipe that drive.
Thank you.

Try creating a logical drive and then deleting it. No clue if that will help though :p

Your reinstalling 2k right? Just boot 2k, hit f6 to add the driver for your scsi (if needed) and partition/format from within windows setup.

You are both right with your suggestions...and I will throw in another that I will try later tonight. I tried making and then deleting a logical drive and all it did was use 8MB of the drive that somehow was still free; I did not get a switch to a differ drive option that usually shows up. I think that this drive was originally created with Drive Image, which might be locking FDISK out. So, I will try to load drive image by floppy and then see what happens. Then I will use the Windows 2000 installing formating process (although I think that DOS has to be able to recognize the disk even when Windows tries to install/format).
