Repair Win XP install

I have a faulty driver upgrade, rolled back but I still get bsod crashes. I was wondering if repairing a winxp install would give me a fresh start. I would have to reload all the drivers, but not the programs right? Would all user login information, etc be preserved with a repair? I was hoping to avoid a reformat and reinstall as it would take a few days to reinstall all my apps. Thanks for any input from people who have actually done a repair.

What drivers are they?
Have you tried removing them whilst in Safe Mode?
Have you tried using System Restore to roll back to a time before the driver install?

If you do a repair, then yes all your login info and installed apps are preserved. If your drivers are signed (WHQL) they are also preserved.
If the drivers are not signed, I believe that you get a pop up balloon during the repair process which asks whether you want to install those drivers as they are not signed.
