repair/reinstall 2000PRO reboot

trying to fix a ie problem i thought about doing a repair on 2000pro. everything was going fine, but then it got to the screen where it says "installing devices" and there is a program bar going across the screen. It will get about 1/2 complete and just reboot. I've tried everything I can think of. I've ran into this before, but for the life of me can't remember what I did to resolve. Any ideas?

Shift-F10 is your friend. Hit it during GUI setup to get a command prompt.

First, let it run a few times and see if it is making any progress. If it hits a bad driver it will skip it next time through.

Get into your setuperr.log and setupapi.log files to see what's going on.

Couple shots in the dark for you:
check taskmgr and see if you have any wierd processes running.
run devmgmt.msc to get into device manager and see if you have any suspect devices you can disable.
rename your catroot2 folder and restart the repair from CD (it will detect it and resume). Do NOT fug with the catroot folder though, just #2.

thanks. I removed the ATI card, and it went through. Don't know why...but it worked.
