Repair of Logitech z560s possible?

I have a set of Logitech z560 speakers about 2 years old now. In the last month the front left speaker has died on me. It's not the speaker unit itself, because I can swap in a different unit and the old one will work in the new position. As near as I can tell, the problem is with the subwoofer itself. It's attached to an Audigy 2 if that matters.

I had been thinking to crack it open and see if it was just a loose wire or something simple like that. However, after unscrewing pretty much everything possible on the back I discovered that wouldn't nicely pop off and allow me access.

Any ideas as to the cause of the failure would be appreciated, any tips (not including a sledge hammer) to open the subwoofer would be appreciated more. And if worse comes to worst, what would people suggest for repairing it?
 
How long is the warranty on those? If it's still active call Logitech up and they'll send you a new set.

Wow, did you read my thread? exact same issue I had.

The problem is not in the amp or the sub, but it's definitely in the control pod. The control pod is responsible for splitting the sound up amung the different speakers, and sending this info to the sub. I all of the cases of this occuring I hav eread on Logitech's discussion forums, replacing the control pod solves it all.

Now, finding a replacement pod is ridiculously hard. Right now ebay has a few up, but they are bid into the $40+ range, and thats just too much I think.

Ah, okay! Thanx for the advice, will try and see if it works. Assuming I can find one of course.
 
All my high channels went out logitech made me send back controller and there sending me 5300 speakers I took my z560 apart there is not just the sub woofer fuse there is 4 other solderd on fuses on the circuit board for the high channels all of them were blown no wonder I lost highs how generic if your warrenty is out just solder of those blown fuses and solder on new ones

I actually RMA'd My control pod in like 02 but it's dying again and I was thinking of just swapping in a home receiver. If I use a 5.1 receiver will it work okay as 4.1 until I get a center channel speaker?

Any suggestions on what I should look for in a receiver?

I used to have a set of these, great speakers for their time.

Changing out the amp would be your best bet like nutxo said. Buy a used Dennon, sony or pioneer receiver from craigslist if you want to maintain the 4 speakers, but if you just want 2.1 (2 front speakers and 1 subwoofer), buy something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Nobsound-TPA3116D2-Amplifier-Independent-Adjustment/dp/B074J9X3P5

If you go that route, you can upgrade your speakers later too.
