Hi,
Any opinions if it is worth repairing a 17" MAG Innovision MXP17F monitor. It served me well for 5 1/2 years. I thought I got a decent price on it when I bought if for about $830 shipped in '95.
I heard an electric poping sound come from the back when I turned it on for the last time. I suspect the tube is Ok and some component in the back shorted out. Now when I turn it on I get nothing at all. The power on light doesn't go on. The options LCD doesn't light. It is totally silent. It used to make lots of noise. Relays clicking. Degausing. Static electric sounds from the screen.
Anybody think I can get it fixed for less than $100? It might be just replacing one part. I tried to open the back (only after letting it sit for a couple of days to let any residual juice drain), but it is too complicated. I broke a few of the plastic clips that hold the case on. Then I discovered inside the plastic case is a metal grill case. I doubt I can open it all up without destroying it. And then I doubt I have the skill to correctly diagnose and fix the problem.
Any one have some thoughts about this?
Thanks,
JayR
