Repair LCD monitor....

Oh goody!! I'm looking to buy a 19" I can repair...for cheap. Sorry. 😉

A good place for a first look http://www.repairmylcd.com/ The server is down atm, this is
Norris Parts and he sells on eBay. Email him pics of you LCD's PCBs. I bet you looking at
$50~$70 to repair it yourself by just changing out the power section.

Use your warrenty or up-grade to a 19".

Thanks GalvanizedYankee, i took it and will try to repair it or replace. It's nice looking
almost 19'' LCD display from DELL and i don't wona trow it in the garbage.

Norris Parts can be looked at on eBay. I don't know if he takes his site down for work, uses a crappy server or what, but it does go down once a week for a day or two.

He's a good guy and will offer repair info, if you can solder in new parts. Or he sells new PCB sections for LCDs. Email him pics like I said and don't rough-house your display open. Many of them have to have the base removed to access the innards. 😉

Can he repair laptop LCDs? I have one with the backlight out on it and its a 17" widescreen one. His site is down at the moment it seems again.

Hi, I've repaired a couple. Both had obvious problems in the power section. Both were shorted Caps that had burned a hole in the cap. All repairs won't be that easy.

Good Luck, Jim

I really don't know why RepairMyLCD is still down.

Look up Norris Parts on eBay and go from there. The guy has a good reputation.

What is the problem with your LCD? If there's nothing wrong with the LCD panel itself, you might just have to change the inverter or the power board.

Well dang....can't find anything on Ebay from him either. 🙁
The LCD that I have turns on, can very faintly see the image. There is no backlight to it.

Edit: Nevermind. Found him.

WTF??? I got a response from him saying ""Sorry but we repair LCD monitors not laptops"".
I didn't ask him to repair a laptop, just the LCD on the laptop. 😕

Tom's hardware wrote a guide about replacing laptop screens. I don't think laptops have inverter cards... they're already running off dc power 0.o lol. Yeah, look it up. If you can't find it, pm me and i'll try to find you the link.
