Repair estimate question

Here is my current situation. I was in the parking lot and a cart runner just ran into my car. We were in the parking lot of the supermarket and I guess he didn't just me. The manager took pictures and everything. So that's all behind us. He told me to ge estimates, my question is if I can just go to a car dealership and ask for an estimate of repair? Will they just write something up?

Sorry for all the questions, i've never been in a fender bender before...

 
Yes. The collison shop will give you an estimate broken down into mechanical parts, paint supplies, mechanical labor, body/paint labor, etc.
 
Yep, just went through that myself. I like the guys who look over the car with you instead of handing you a cup of coffee and looking it over by themselves.
