This is an op-ed piece by Representative Paul Ryan from Wisconsin. He's the ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee. He's the guy that pretty much dominated at the health care summit. You remember the summit that the liberal media barely covered because the Dem's pretty much got trounced?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/14/AR2010031401388.html

This convoluted legislative charade demonstrates how far the Democratic majority has wandered from real health-care reform and cost control, employing any means to achieve political victory.

Through any analytical lens, the legislation will not address the central problem of skyrocketing health-care costs. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that families' premiums could rise 10 to 13 percent; private-sector actuarial estimates top these already high numbers.

This year I re-introduced my own proposals to tackle our entitlement crisis head-on. My plan, "A Roadmap for America's Future," fulfills the mission of health and retirement security, lifts our crushing burden of debt, and spurs economic growth and job creation.

Here's a video of Rep. Ryan explaining his vision for health care. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6H3aEob_mo&feature=player_embedded. Please note the date is May 21, 2009. Remember that we were told repeatedly that the Republicans offered no plan and "no new ideas"? This was nothing more than a lie.

It's not too late yet. If you don't support this bill in its current form, 2,309 pages at this moment, today is a great day to flood the switchboard of your representatives with phone calls.

I don't trust the Republican party on social issues to vote for them on anything other than a very local level.

They're talking fiscal responsibility now because they're the minority party. When they regain the majority they'll be right back to legislating Pat Robertson's vision for America.

^ It should be locked for stupidity, not repost. The guy is a running joke. A well spoken running joke, but a joke nonetheless. He's kooky right-wing in the most dangerous of ways.
