It is apparent to me he was trying to make a painful point to the young staffer who was just simply doing his job. They said the Representative didn't like anyone telling him what he could and couldn't do. He tried to play it off like he got caught off guard by some unknown person. The video is very telling.

It is representatives like these that we have in our ranks that think nothing of hurting someone physically because they feel that person is "beneath" them.

Are all the staffers scared of those old farts? He should have punched that guy in the face.

Nothing special here, just your typical boomer thinking everybody is below them and treating them as such.

Being an abusive dolt is political party agnostic. He's an abusive dolt. Though no doubt you jizzed yourself with joy that he was a republican. Wouldn't surprise me either if the staffer was some whiny spoiled millennial that felt the world owed him something just for showing up. Doesn't justify the dbag's behavior, mind you, but in many cases like this there's more to the story.

Usually I would advocate a punch to the face in order to stop physical pain like that. But I am not sure tubby could take ole Don.

And who is Chris Hayes? He looks like a younger more smug douchier version of Olbermann.

Yes because more of the story will justify that behavior. /s

I saw the video. The senator did it on purpose. Tubby shuold have given him a swift kick in the junk. Who cares what party he's in. He should be brought up to the ethics committe.

What is the deal with basic civilized behavior being the exception these days.

No, I just put down in the title who he is. I didn't say I was glee with joy that a Republican did this. I honestly think this thing is any congressmember who thinks they are wealthy, elite, and tend to look down on their staffers.

When this guy got caught he never apologized to the guy whose arm and hand he crushed and twisted, he just made excuses for what he did. I think he owes this guy an actual public apology.

I see the sarcasm there, but I surely hope you're not thinking that I think in any way this was justified. That's why I bolded my comment.

Agreed. I can't stand politicians getting away with stuff that would land us commoners in jail.

Clarification noted and appreciated. Thank you. I totally agree.

They are now saying he did this because of all the "tension" between the repubs and dems during negotiations and failures during that period. So... take it out on the staff? /shakes head

So next time you hit someone, just say it was because of "tension" between rep and dems. Should get you a free pass right?

The saddest thing is if the staffer did try and defend himself by punching the dbag, he'd be in jail already.

True..

This reminds me of that other congressman who threatened a news reporter to break him in half and throw him over the balcony (or something like that.) He didn't realize he could still be heard even though he stepped out of camera view.

Politics is tense and has always been so. Can't take the pressure, get out. What a loser.

No I thought you made it clear you didn't support such behavior, my point was that there is no justification for that behavior so no more of the story is needed.

Hopefully a joke. If not, pure ignorance.

Does anything other than ignorant drivel come from him?

So typical of a left wing radical to spout off and politicize a news story not politically related to further an agenda. Try being less transparent instead of a blatant idiot, eh Cleveland Steamer.

Its a sad state of affairs if he's not forced to apologize to that staffer publicly.

He did a nice mea culpa, but it certainly makes him look like a dick. If someone is trying to stop you from entering a room, find out why before you twist his pudgy little arm. One day that little bit of common decency might even save his life. (Although that's one staffer who now would probably happily let the good Congresscritter walk into a room with an active shooter.)

Well, according to your logic in the "Using Fake Websites To Trick Political Donors" thread, the solution to this problem is to allow the Democratic Reps to do this to their staffers too. What's good for the goose is good for the gander right? ;)
