I just got my learner's permit, and I wanted to practice some driving with a friend. Will any rental companies allow me to rent a car with a learner's permit? Of course, someone with a DL will have to be with me always. I've tried googling, but failed to come up with anything

P.S. I'm in austin,TX , if location matters for something like this

Age? Most rental companies won't rent to those under 25. Even less likely without a valid license.

I second what Asianrice said. I rent a lot of cars and unless they they have relaxed their requirements it's 25.

You can rent under 25, I did it when I was younger. You just have to pay quite a bit extra. As for renting with a permit, I doubt any of them would go that far.

You can rent cars when you're under 25. Under 18 and without a license, I highly doubt any company will rent to though.

Ive rented a few cars and im only 19. Been refused a few times to but they said 21, never heard of having to be 25. I dont think you can legally sign a rental contract anywhere until your 18 though.

Just buy a $200 clunker. If any rental company will rent to you, they'll charge you more than that per day anyhow, as you are in ultra-high risk territory.

iirc, CA rentals require you to be 21. However, Uhaul doesn't check so if you wanna practice on a moving truck, you should be okay. I don't recall uhaul even checking my DL.
