Renting a car: What's a Loss Damage Waiver?

i dunno... but i got one two weeks ago when i rented my car.

i figured that it just covered me not having to pay a dime if i got hit... but i really dont know... lol

edit... definition of ldw

hmm... smells like a ripoff if i u have rental car insurance... but i guess it was good for me cause i don't need another claim on my insurance, 😉

They make money renting that car. If it's in a shop for repairs, they can't make money on it during that time. You'll be responsible for that loss, as well as cost to repair it. Some insurance companies don't include that, so double check with yours before driving off.

If you total the rental car or do serious damage, this covers anything that your insurance won't...deductibles, loss of use, etc. Basically, you can total the car, and walk away...

It's something you don't need.

Your insurance and any major credit card gives you complete protection.

If you rent with Diners Club card, you don't even need your insurance.
