Renters Insurance question

I'm thinking about getting some insurance to cover my stuff(computers, cell phone, TVs, dvd collection, ect). Thing is I'm not on the liese for the apartment, does this bar me from getting insurance?


 
I just got renters insurance from State Farm yesterday and I do not even have a lease. We rent from my mother in law. We live with her and there is basically no signed contract. So take that for what it is worth.
 
I hope erie does the same. I have car insurance with them and next month I'm getting "kicked" off my dad's policy and switched over to my own, might as well add some insurnace for my gear.

BTW what are you paying a month, just to give me a ball park figure.
