bleh @ The Shawshank Redemption. It was an ok film, but in one of those feel-good kinda ways. It wasn't something that challenged my mind or inspired debate.

I totally agree. I thought The Shawshank Redemption was a good movie, but I don't consider it to be in the same league as most of the other movies that have been mentioned.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Fantastic film, especially if you know the history behind the real people in it, and an even better book.

Amelie!
Dirty Pretty Things
The Big Empty - is kinda strange and funny.
Shade and Rounders - if you're into the Texas Hold'um craze
EuroTrip - hehehe...lowest common denominator goodness
Out of Time - good suspense flick
Palmetto - another good suspense flick

One more:

Musa the Warrior (the highest-budget Korean film ever made)

I still have this movie shrinkwrapped..I was sold on the cover art. I guess I should watch it.

And Equilibrium isn't all action. Its more about extreme fascism in the future and how it could effect society. Its not like a Matrix Reloaded wall to wall action movie, the action is just one aspect.
