Rental car question

I'm going back to Denver for a couple weeks to train the 30 n00bs. This time I'm getting my own rental car instead of sharing one with the co-morons.

My California ID still says just "Identification Card" since I haven't received my new license yet. Anybody know if they validate your driver's license or do they just look at it? If they just look at it I'm hosed... :( If they validate it with the DMV I should be ok.

Or do they even care as long as you can prove you're you?

They look at it to make sure your license is not suspended. Your license number will be on the rental contract. They will not rent to you without a valid license. That's the way Enterprise does it, anyway.

They will look at your CC and driver's license (to make sure it's valid).

But if I were you, I would call and make sure you won't have any trouble. Better to know now than when you're at the counter.

That's the thing... I want to make sure they will somehow verify that I *do* have a valid license.

But it's become a moot point. I'm driving my bus to Denver on the 12th of Feb, so won't need a rental.
