So I popped a deer the other day and I have a $25/day insurance policy for rentals. That combined with a free double upgrade from enterprise I found will put me within the luxury selection for really only a few dollars a day so why not. The choices are the ATS vs MKZ or similar.

I'm going to assume they are the bottom rung of both models, so slowest versions and what not.

I don't really know much about either of these cars but the ATS looks fun from the commercials heh.

Thoughts?

2-11-14 Update:

Boo. Enterprise does not let one use a free double upgrade when going through insurance. So there is really no point in my going all the way up too luxury. I'll probably just rent a reliant robin or something from them now 🙁

Depends on the level.
The base motor in the ATS is a littler weak IMO. The base motor in the 2013+ MKZ is better.

I like the styling of the ATS and from reviews seems it should handle better as well.

If its a 2012 or older MKZ then even the ATS base model would be better.

The ATS even in base form will feel much more lively. It's light and RWD. Looks wise, I know the MKZ gets a lot of hate...but I find it brilliant.

Hmm many thanks. The timing kinda sucks since I live in PA and the winter has been psychotic, so I might not be able to enjoy either to the fullest. I will be without my wrx + snow tires.

If you have the interest and don't mind the driving to the rental place, then rent one then the other.

This is a good idea but the 7 day rental is the same price as the 5 day. So if I cut it short it will basically force me to pay more than I want. This is assuming the car takes a week to fix, which I don't imagine it will.

MKZ is the luxury version of a Ford Fusion. It's probably more comfortable and definitely more spacious than the ATS.

For driving fun, I'd go with the ATS, but if you need to haul people and cargo, or want a cushy ride, then go with the MKZ.
