Rental application question

Filling out a form for rental application and it's got a space for employer contact name and telephone. Are they looking for my supervisors name and number? Or someone in human resources? I'm confused. Anybody?

Just put the company and their phone number, dont give them your boss' number

Getting further down the list of fields, they are looking for my checking account and savings account numbers at my bank. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think i should be giving them this kind of info. Is this normal? They could friggin steal my identity with all this.

I doubt they could call the bank and even have the bank verify that info. If you're bored, call the bank with your info but claim to be not be you and see what happens.

They want to have a warm fuzzy that you actually have a bank account that you will pay them from.

It is your option to refuse to provide them with such info, or jsut provide them with the name of the bank alone.

Newsflash: Assuming you write them a check for the deposit and/or monthly rent, your name, bank routing number, and checking account number will be printed RIGHT ON THERE.

That info is on the checks you will use to pay the rent so you will be giving out that info anyways.

If you are doing a lease, they dont mind if you call and have them walk you through step by step.

I never filled in the bank info, or my SSN or those kinds of things, and never had a problem. Fill in your employer info, once they verify you have a job you should be all set, the check for the deposit will be good enough.

the SSN is for a credit check, so I don't see how you could have gotten past that part of the application w/out filling it out.

as far as the bank accounts, as others said, it's going to be right there on the check anyways. the one field I found weird was the balance field they wanted from both of my bank accounts.

i didn't put exact amounts, but I put like $XXXXX+ as the amount.
