Rent a truck/SUV to tow my car 1000 miles?

Hello,

So I want to take my car down to Atlanta from Boston, but I don't think my car will make the trip all 1000 miles. Also I have a lot of stuff and I will not be able to fit it all. I was thinking about renting a truck or SUV from enterprise or Budget and renting an auto trailer from U-Haul. Has anyone had experience with this before? I've heard bad things about U-haul. I do not want to sell my car, it's not feasible at this point. Thanks

I used a service similar to this with great results. I seem to recall the cost was about $400.00 to ship cross country.

Yeah, I'd just push it off a cliff and use the money you would use in truck and trailer rental to buy a new one when you get there.

I'm moving my stuff and I don't need a car that needs to go more than 100 miles. Let's say I rent a car for a day for $50. I save $350...what car can I get for $350?

It's at least a 2 day drive, so that rental won't be quite $50. What exactly is wrong with your car that you don't think it would make a 1,000 mile trip?

Last time I tried, no one would rent us a truck that had a hitch because they didn't want people towing with their rentals.

I rented a U-Haul and a trailer when I towed my SUV and all of my crap from Arkansas to Florida. It worked perfect. And U-Haul is fine, don't be afraid to rent from them.

If your car can go 100 miles, it can go 1,000 miles. Freeway driving is the gentlest thing you can do to a car.

Depends on the car and location. In Montana where speed limits are 75 (and people normally drive 85+) a 70's station wagon will not survive.

Why the hell not? My 67 ford galaxie would cruise at 100mph just fine 🙂.
