We moved into our townhouse almost 12 months ago and signed a 1 year lease. We're still a few years away from buying a home.
I'm not crazy about moving out and finding another place, we may stay here until we purchase a home or move to Australia.
Deposit was $500.
Rent is $550 per month.
We're good quiet neighbors and always pay the rent on time.
Our options are:
The property management usually offers incentives if you extend your lease. We don't need any new appliances or carpetting, it's all in great condition.
So I'd like to ask for $$$ off on month's rent, they might go for $275 (half rent) but I'm going to shoot for $300.

- 1) Move. No thanks.
- 2) Go month-to-month but our rent may increase and we don't receive any incentives for extending our lease.
- 3) Sign a 6, 9 or 12 month lease. I'm leaning towards 6 months --- only because if we move I'd like to do it during summer time. I would like to eventually move closer to downtown Portland or possibly SW or Washington County (Beaverton/Aloha). I'm sick and tired of the damn meth house busts that happen at least 3 times a week usually within 5 miles of our home.
