Renew SagaLore.com, or let it expire?

I registered my username I use for just about anything - sagalore.com. At first I was testing all sorts of stuff on it but I never really put it to good use. You can't get to it right now because I canceled the host it was on and haven't moved it to my current host yet.

I'm thinking about starting a forum similar to anandtech, and maybe setting up a tech based blog to highlight my wonderful job as a systems administrator. I believe a domain name is extremely important in how visitors perceive your site. Just imagine if anandtech.com had been any other name - had it been as successful?

So I'm thinking, I can renew "sagalore.com" in a few months, or let it expire and go with something more professional, like "sagatech.com", or "ricknews.com".

What do you think?

if you keep it, you can always drop it in future. once you drop it... it is gone.

i say, renew.

Might as well keep it.

I've let a couple of mine drop over the last year or so. Pretty much down to just conjur.com and yagt.org

:)

How much does it cost to renew? Like $10? Dig through your couch for the change.

Tell me about it. I just purchased 20 new domains and none of them are for personal use. They're all gaming/technology/deals oriented = $$$ CASH COWS $$$

Then I have to renew about 50 existing domains, etc. It adds up but it's the cost of doing bitness. Wow 80 x $8.88 = $710.40 per year plus the cost of hosting, Wow!

I vote renew!

Our first order of business will be to relocate our headquarters (Brad, my wife and I) to Las Vegas, Nevada.

After that who knows :p

Seriously? Don't you like it in Oregon?

I love it except for the crazy ass extreme weather, overpriced real estate market and no In-N-Out burger :(

I like the idea of SagaTech but also think Sagalore is agood site name too. To me the Sagalore is anything in general type of a site name. Where as SagaTech would be mostly technology only.

When I lived in Oregon, this new burger place called Hot-n-Now was built. It was a little building with a parking lot - you ordered by walking up to the window. EVERY single time they messed up your order, usually in their favor. But you couldn't beat the prices - 39 cents for a burger, I think also 39 cents for a small fries.

I don't think they stayed in business for long...

What part of Oregon are you in? I lived in Corbett, close to Portland and Gresham (I think... I was young). The weather was mild compared to Pennsylvania - but it did rain a heck of a lot (more like a consistent warm drizzle). I remember my school's song was "Corbett, Home of the East wind". :p

If its cheap real estate you're looking for, come move out with me. My wife and I are 90% sure now that Raleigh, NC is the best place for us... I have until this Summer to make up my mind.

LOL I remember the Hot-N-Now days that was a 90's fad which quickly died. They were WILDLY popular for a year, maybe two then all of the sudden they all went out of business.

If I wanted dirt cheap real estate I'd just move to BFE Iowa where I could buy a mansion. We plan on staying in Portland for a while unless we move to NV, AZ, or possibly Australia.

RossMAN, I love the desert southwest. I plan on being there once my daughter is out of school.

Why? Prefer the drier warmer climate?

Now, Now, Now... a good Ferengi like RossMAN probably knows that he needs to incorporate in Delaware to get the good tax breaks :)

We've only been to Arizona once, a few years ago. Phoenix metro was ok but Sedona was absolutely beautiful. I'd love to visit again for a few days, do some hiking and lots of sweating.

You need a cooler domain name for a tech web site, like:

THEEXTREMEHARDWARE.COM OR MEGATECHLIVE.COM :)
