searched and didnt see anything on this. sorry if its a repost. heres some copy from imdb on it

Slimline movie actress Renee Zellweger is reportedly being paid a $3.2 million bonus to pack on the pounds for her reprised role as Bridget Jones. The petite Chicago star is already on a high-fat diet in order to achieve the rounder figure needed for the British singleton - and film producers have guaranteed her $112,000 for every pound out of the 30 she manages to put on. A source tells British tabloid The Daily Star, "Renee's getting nearly £15 million for the sequel and the bonus is on top of that. She hates gaining weight to play Bridget and know's she's going to have a hard time losing it again." Svelte Renee first played Bridget in hit 2001 movie Bridget Jones' Diary but soon lost the weight she gained for the role - with some believing she'd gotten too thin. But the amazing success of the Hugh Grant-starring flick meant Renee was tempted back to the role for Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason. However, the actress is having a hard time dealing with her calorie-packed diet. She told a friend, "I'm eating so much I sometimes feel sick. But I might as well enjoy it while I can."

(the story was part of a huge page of news about her, otherwise i would have linked it directly.)
i dont know how i feel about this...its very strange. and something about it disturbs me greatly. maybe the fact that they have to pay her/she feels wrong to in being asked to maintain an average female weight.

If she feels sick then it isn't average for her. She is doing it for the money, but I don't think it is healthy to jump your weight around =/.

i maybe should have prefaced the post by saying that this isnt the only article i heard on the subject. it was mentioned on the radio and i decided to search for something. what made me feel like she didnt like it was the "she hates to gain weight" part (but who can say how true that is). i actually think this article is actually a little better than what i was hearing but they at least mention that some people beleived she got too thin and it doesnt seem overly paranoid about the presence of average-weighted women on the planet.

Actors and Actresses have always had to gain/lose weight to play roles. Will Smith gained like 30 pounds to play Ali. I know theres a ton others but I just can't think of them.

Yep. It's all part of the game. It's no worse than athletes or cheerleaders or whatnot trying to maintain a specific weight.

And as for her hating it, let's face it - who WANTS to get fat?

Yeah, Hanks gained weight for The Green Mile. Will Smith gained 30lbs (maybe more?), sure, but it was all muscle. 30lbs of muscle is a LOT harder to gain than 30lbs of fat. But it sure as hell is a lot easier to take off when you're done with the movie.

I lost 20 pounds working as the man inside the plant in Little Shop Of Horrors. It's just part of the game.

Damn, I'd be a billionaire

What a koosh job that'd be. Your day would consist of eating the foods you like, and watching TV to minimize the amount of activity you did. LOL

Copland. It was crap.

Course hanks lost a ton for his movie as well.

I'm generally motivated enough to put my weight where I want it, for the most part. Cash incentive? Hellyeah.

I thought it was pretty good.

Nothing great, but not a waste of time either.

i think she porked up for that movie she did about the diary.

Gee, really?

Viper GTS

LOL....and...'about the diary'...that was ALL the film was about....2 hours of a book on her dresser.

heh, it was my wifes turn to pick the movie... although, as far as chick flicks go, it wasn't too bad. Not anywhere nearly as bad as Bridges Of Madison County or those irritating English movies she likes to watch.

Why would you want to take off 30lbs of muscle?

why is it pc to rag on thin people. not everyone is naturally plump as the fat and proud of it crowd would like to have you believe. maybe if you sit around all day and eat tons of fast food like an average american:p its not natural if you can afford a personal trainer and eat right.

and for 15million pounds, i'd eat like a pig too, even if it made me feel a little sick :)

you probably wouldn't, but maintenance would be too much of a b*tch.

To be honest, I thought Zellweger looked sexier in Bridget Jones' Diary than in any of her other roles. A close second is Me, Myself and Irene.

I like a little meat on my women. Bony women are a turn off to me.
