The system I am using is the Moobox in my signature, which you can consult for detailed system information. The main components are an EPoX 8KHA+ motherboard, 1GHz@1.125GHz Thunderbird CPU, and a Radeon 8500 Retail video card. I am using Windows 2000 Professional. I have all the latest drivers, BIOS, NWN patches, and Windows updates.

Recently, I formatted my HDD. I had NWN installed on my system prior to the format, and it worked pretty good except I had to disable hardware mouse acceleration to stop the cursor from flashing. After formatting and reinstalling the game, a new problem has arisen. Various models that are part of the map, as well as the part of the HUD in the upper right corner flash when moving or changing view. This happens quite a lot, and it is really hard for me to ignore.

I have tried setting clockspeeds to normal, altering the DX comatibility settings, playing with FSAA/AF, changing the texture pack used, switching resoultions, and trying different visual setting levels (Fast, Good, etc.). I have also searched these forums for an answer without avail. One person posted having a similar problem to me with the Radeon 9800 Pro, but no one responded to his post. Any light that someone can shed on the subject would be useful. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried different driver versions? Have you downloaded all the NWN patches?

I will try using older driver versions. I have not done that yet.

I updated NWN totally via the update program that came with it.

I fixed the problem. I simpy reinstalled the drivers. Then, I installed the Refresh Rate Fix program. I think the refresh rate was the culprit. After formatting, I forgot to install that program again. I had it prior to the format. Not only did it fix the flashing problem, but it improved my framerate somewhat in Savage. It's always the simple things that go unnoticed.

What is your NWN version? You may want to take note that a couple of days ago they released 1.32, then had to roll it back and issue un-patches because loads and loads of people were having their frame rate drop by up to 2/3.

Glad to hear it was something easily found and fixed though. :)
