hey guys -- for some reason when rendering in Maya 7 on my new x1900xtx, i'm getting a lot of aliasing on the models. now.... after a fresh reformatting, it was rendering beautifully, but somewhere along the way i think a driver or other installation got in the way of my catalyst driver. or maybe the catalyst software itself is the problem? any advice?

if anyone knows the ins and outs of the catalyst control center or the x1900xtx, i would really appreciate your help in optimizing my system for rendering 3d models. thanks!

Hmm. Maybe something like adaptive AA isn't playing nicely with it. I recommend you disable all optimizations (that includes Catalyst "AI"). Then download some software like RivaTuner and just force on some AA with that.

Rendering do you mean the viewport or do you mean when you press render?

When you press render normally it is a CPU software render (the best result) but there is a setting for video card GPU rendering (i think for maya) which would explain the aliasing on the models.

Now if you are talking about the viewports then i would say yeah a it is a driver issue... or was.

To optimize the viewport with a x1900xxx would be VSYNC On and turn off all optimizations like stated. You don't really get and tweaks for 3D CAD programs as those are for the FireGL and do not get install when your drivers see your card as a x1900xxx.
