Rendered or Photo?

I think it just looks staged like they used flood lights to illuminate the scene for the photograph.

I don't get the story... Why would the FCC need to approve this flight?

Wouldn't that be the FAA?

If you are going to make sh!t up... at least make it sound believable!

And this from another forum I'm on..

I know that guy. We taught him to skydive here, google "rocket guy". This is a new plan he's got, his original was for a direct ground launch with a kind of baking soda and vinegar propulsion system. He's been planning this for years.
Dont count him out, he's only part crazy. Whether he dies trying or not, he really means to try.

I've spent hours talking to him. He made a lot of his money inventing toys.

All I can say is "Good luck Icarus"

Guess what again? I'm not doubting the flight. This thread isn't even about the flight. It's about the photograph. I'm just saying that it looks like they used flood lights to illuminate the truck and "crossbow" for the photograph, which might explain the odd looking lighting.

IDK, it looks a lil fishy to me.

What I find hard to believe, is the author posted it to blog.scifi.com and doesn't know what Battlestar Galactica is!

Apparently, the guy's plans have changed somewhat from the original plan, which was a relatively more conventional rocket system. That was planned to go 50 miles high, as opposed to this and its 20.
