Renaming Windows Directory?

Helpless

Banned
Greetings,

..since I had an appointment to get my cable modem installed on Friday, I took the liberty to format my HD and get everything screaming before he got here...anyway, while installing ME,it installed two different windows directories..one "WINDOWS" (empty) and a second one "WINDOWS.000" I deleted the former and left the latter...but now can;t rename it 🙂 Without creating another Windows directory and moving everything into it (I think so associations, locations, etc... and the like will get messed up, but not sure) is there a way to rename the directory? I tried doing it in DOS mode, but keeps going back to the .000 extention

Any ideas?

What happened is that the setup wizard found another directory called WINDOWS and installed ME in the WINDOWS.000 directory. You probably created the WINDOWS directory prior to installing Windows ME. You can change the destination folder in the setup wizard. Even though it will prompt you that the WINDOWS directory already exists, you can skip over the message and install Windows in the WINDOWS directory.
