Renaissance-Retro Gaming: Diablo 2!!!

Folks,
Yeah, it's from 2000... and the expansion pack from 2001...

But Diablo 2 was a blast and is a great game for when you don't want to do a lot of cogitation and only have scattered bits of time to play.

Plus, hardware requirements are a breeze by today's standards.

Any other old school games you are playing?

Cheers,
PCM

A good game is a good game, regardless of when its made.
Same with movies.
Way too many folks are spending WAAY too much on crap, and thats why the companies keep making more of it. They know people will pay.
(Same with movies.)

I still like Deus Ex, RTCW, Quake 2 (if I can get it to work), FF7, AvP 2, Baldurs Gate 2, MOO2 (works awesome under XP), and the Microprose version of Magic.

Could probably think of a few others if I were at home.

The problem with diablo 2 is that even though it's good fun when you want a quickie... it soon becomes a time sink again! It's like, ah.. I'll just fire up Civ3. Next thing you know it's 4 in the morning 🙁

Three 100% true posts.

 for good old games, movies and music. Screw the flavor of the week.

And if you're into flight sims, there hasn't been much lately, so many of your best choices are old.

I can't play D2 anymore. I get bored after a mere 20 minutes or so. When I'm playing on LAN with a few people I know, its more fun though.

Civ2/3/4 are all highly addictive though. 🙂

I've started to play with one og my frineds over ip, since he moved to another town. So we game and talk while gaming D2. Very nice 🙂

And I still play Heroes of Might and Magic III

D2 has almost no replay value sadly, even with the somewhat randomly generated areas. You can play again with a different class but it's the same story and the same enemies, though mp helps a little. That said I do load it up at least once a year and give it a run through, but I often lose interest just because, as I said... replay value sucks. 🙁 I'd love to see a more non-linear Diablo 3... sadly that dev team moved on to other things (FVCK YOU BLIZZARD HAH!) so any new sequel would probably lack the feel of Diablo.

C&C Renegade. Some people did not like it, but I found the multiplayer quite addicting. Runs well on just about any machine as well.

D2 was the best game I ever played period. I have to stop it because I know there are important things to life (like building a computer !!!!)

I sold my D2 acct. about 5+ months back for $90.00 (not on these forums) and I'm never going back. It's a great game but after playing it for 4+ years.......... I've moved on to Star Wars Empire at War **LMAO**

(#1 Summoning Druid on East with the best gear & highest lvl Grizzly/ lvl52)

I still crack open Worms every now and then, great fun with friends.

Operation Flashpoint is good for quick blasts online.

D2 sucked up almost as much of my time as Civ2 & Championship Manager did, lol. Not that good for quick games.
