removing users from XP logon screen

I wanted to know if there is a quick way or utility that can remove usernames from a logon screen. I'm running XP Pro and wanted to create a few accounts but didnt want all of them listed on the logon screen at the beginning. Also I'm a lot more used to the old way of having total control of users that I had in Win2k - where can i turn this option on XP. I read a few places that there should be an advanced tab in the users applet in control panel - but havent found it. Looked for a while. Any particular requirements to find this thing??

thanx

For the applet that provides precise control over the user accounts just enter

control userpasswords2

in the Start|Run dialog. There is an Advanced tab on that dialog, as well as an Advanced button on the Advanced tab.

I don't use the Welcome Screen on any of my Windows XP systems, so I'm not sure about how to keep specific user names from showing on that screen at system startup. If I remember correctly it is normal for the built-in Administrator account to NOT be shown on that screen IF (and only if) at least one other admin level account has been created. There is, again if I recall correctly, a tweak in the TweakUI for Windows XP applet which allows you to force the built-in admin account to show on the Welcome Screen, regardless of the default behavior. I don't know whether or not you can turn the showing of other account names on and off. It seems logical that this would be possible.

If it doesnt show all name how do you enter a name not on the list? is there a block to type in other names?

I have 2 people on mine, but no admin

I'm not sure about other user accounts, but the built-in admin account normally doesn't show on the welcome screen -- that is to say if other admin level users have been created. (Admin level user is what you get by default when you create a new account. You have to specify the more limited account type if that's what you want.) So, you can only log in as the built-in admin if you boot into Safe Mode. I understand that, if you hit Ctrl-Alt-Del twice in rapid succession (or some such thing) that you are allowed to log on as the built-in admin during a normal boot.

Tweak UI actually fixed the problem for me. I was getting users that I didnt want at logon. Also TweakUI lets u add the administrator account for login. Its part of powertoys for XP.

thanx again for the help
