Removing the IHS

I'm looking to remove the IHS on my Opty 175. How do I do it? May be someone could reply with a link to a guide or someting to help me out.
I wonder if I'll notice any noticable temp drop, but the norm (from what I've heard) is abou ~2C (or a couple) at idle and ~5 (or more) under load.

ALSO I have a SI-120 HS. After I remove the IHS, and clean the gunk off with some alcohol, can I use AS5 on it? and is it as easy as just remouting the cpu and applying the AS5 and then just remounting the SI-120? or do I have to modify something else?

Thanks for the help in advance, all I have to do now is work up the nerve to actually DO IT.

Have you even hit your limit of the chip with the IHS on?

If not, do that first..

If you have never removed a IHS, it can be risky.. Along with that, if you are new at mounting HSF's it is possible to crack the core of the chip..

Who in their right mind would do that to a beautiful Opty 175..

😀

Words of Advice.

MAX YOUR CHIP first.
