Removing stuck CPU

I have a Soltek K8AN2E-GR mobo (socket 754) and an Athlon 64 3200+ CPU. I'm having problems getting the CPU out of the socket. The lever won't quite reach the upright position even though it bent a bit from the force I applied to it. I've tried pulling the lever back and forth several times and gently pulling on the CPU when the lever is as far upright as it will go.

Any suggestions? How common of a problem is this?

Could moving the mobo around with the CPU installed but no heatsink installed on it have caused the weight of the CPU to bend the pins inside the socket or mess up the socket mechanism?

I put everything back together. Windows loads. Prime 95 and UT2k4 run fine, but I'm a bit worried that some of the CPU pins might not be connected properly.

A lever doesn't have enough power to bend all the 754 pins together when you lock it......take the motherboard to the service centre if your paranoid about the pins getting bent.......
