Removing Stock Thermal Pads on Heatsinks?

What's the best way to remove the thermal pads that come on many new heatsinks?

check out arctic silvers webpage. under instructions, they have a whole section on how to remove heatsink goo.

Here's what I did. All I can say is that it worked for me.

Global Win FOP-32

* Picked off as much of thermal pad as I could with fingernails
* Per instructions, tried to use rubbing alcohol to remove remaining stick-um. THIS DID NOT WORK!
* Used "Goop", a citrus-based cleaner/removal agent--worked like a charm.
* Wiped down the area with rubbing alcohol to remove any "Goop" residue.
* Lapped the heatsink to a nice smooth finish.
* Wiped down the area once again with rubbing alcohol.
