Removing Socket 478 Heatsink

Hello, I'm in the process of removing a Socket 478 heatsink in order to replace the CPU. However, I cannot seem to remove it. I found a picture of the heatsink here -

Anyways, I've already read through the instructions on the Intel website to no avail. With this weird retention mechanism, I can't fit a screw driver or anything under there in order to unhook the clips. Any help?

Thanks.

you have press down on the clips than pull the clips back and raise them up omg i am having some brownout actvity... pc shut down?

ok you have to push those clips down
than you have to pull them back so they release
than after you do that they should pop right up sighn in on aim and send me an im.

There appear to be thumblevers on one end of each chromed clip. If you push down on those, does it release the clips?

i use a flat head screwdriver between the bracket and the clip and ease off the bottom of the 4 corners. its a pita. if you get 2 on one side it will lift off.

Yeah 478 + heatsink mechanism = PATHETIC.
It's a hook mechanism. So you push down and .... pull out.

BUT! Best way to do it is to use a flat screwdriver. So much simpler
It connects like this

|V| //<-- Put screwdriver on top of this part, and push down.
