Removing rust from chains

I've rusted my first pair of snow chains after letting it sit in a wet bag. After taking the chains (wet) off, I let them sit in a bag in my trunk thinking it's no big deal. Now I check on it and they are rusted. I looked up google on home remedy rust removers and found this:

Using tea!

Are there any other remedies that you can think of? Remember I need to submerge the entire chain in a solution so to get at all the rust.

Umm... who cares?

Put them back on your tires for a day if you want to de-rust them.
