removing registry keys?

When a software trial expires and you re-install it, the trial is still expired. I'm assuming this is because there's a registry key that remains even when you uninstall software?

Am I correct?

How do you find the corresponding registry key and remove it?

You don't, you buy a copy if you like it enough to keep using it past the trial period.
