so i want my desktop entirly clean, and i already got rid of mydocs, my comp, and my network, all just by going to some setting.

however, i did not see a setting for removing the recycle bin.

how do u do this?

It would be a registry hack, I think. It is possible to rename the recycle bin which I have done to 'trash', a name which makes more sense to me, since anything put into the recycle bin I eventually 'trash'. I did this through the registry years ago, and I have forgotten how. Google would know.

But I don't think getting rid of the recycle bin is a good idea.

Go into group policy - gpedit.msc
user configuration -> Admin Templates -> Desktop -> Remove Recycle Bin from Desktop (Enable).

Refresh the desktop after enabling the value and it should be gone.

much simpler way! right click desktop>Arrange Icons> and Uncheck show icons on desktop. everything will be gone!

but sometimes its nice to temporarily store a file on the desktop. I like to think of the desktop as my personal workspace.
