Removing RAM heatspreader help!!

I've got some RAM that I want to check if it uses BH-5 chips. The clips were fairly easy to pry off with a plier but the heatsinks are attached to the IC's with some tough thermal tape. I have it in the freezer and I tried removing the heatspreaders after 10 mintutes but they were still sticky. Right now they're in the freezer.

I used thin razor blades from box cutters to sliced through the tape. But make sure you cut closer to the spreader rather then the chips.

Sounds like a plan. BTW, once you find out "yes or no" on what type of chips you have, how exactly were you planning on putting the heatspreader back on? 😀

Here's a hint; no you cannot reuse the thermal tape you just mangled.

lol , yeah,I was thinking also....

Does knowing the chips you have actualy help it overclock better. 😀
I mean why bother removing all the stuff just to know.... the chips will do what they can no matter if your know what they are or not. 😉
