Removing RAID bios

Bought the Asus T2 SFF:

http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=1&l2=2&l3=0&model=746&modelmenu=1

It comes with:

North Bridge: ATI? Radeon® Xpress 200
South Bridge: ULI M1573

During the boot sequence I run into occassional problems:

1. The ULI RAID program will look for all IDE drives and sometimes takes 30 seconds or more to do it. I can't think of a reason why they put this RAID bios on a SFF box that can only hold one HD anyways.

2. Sometimes it will not find my SATA HD and I have to reboot.

I suspect my problems lie with the RAID program. Is there a way to remove/disable it from ever starting up? I don't see any options in the BIOS to remove/disable it. I've upgraded to the latest BIOS on Asus's website.

Thanks for any help!

My Asus P5GD1 bios has a setting for IDE scans that runs 0-30 seconds . I set it to 0.

Some types of Sata plugs are prone to 'loosening' - check that yours is seated completely.

That's just the timeout for a detected drive that won't answer. This does not speed up things at all.

If you don't want the IDE/SATA to be in RAID mode, configure your board's BIOS to run them in legacy IDE mode. The RAID BIOS then won't start.

Thanks for the replies guys.

1. I've gone through the AMIBIOS v.02.53 with no luck on finding out how to disable.

2. I've emailed ULI and they never responded.

3. I've called ASUS tech support and the tech took 10 minutes to find my product! Then he claimed that there was no way to remove/disable the RAID option since I am using a SATA drive. When I pointed out how I'm getting a screen asking to insert the proper boot device (when I press a key, it will then find my HD), he told me he'll have someone else call me and then promptly hung up without ever bothering to get my number.

Any other suggestions?

Yeah, I tried reseating the SATA cable and I've pored through the manuals. I can't find anyplace in the BIOS to change the RAID settings. It's AMIBIOS v.02.53 from American Megatrends. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
