removing possibly dead laptop drive and connecting to desktop?

a friends PC might be fried...but she wants the data from it (duh) so if its really fried is there a way to get the drive out of there and hook it up to my PC? OR...can i just connect it to my PC via USB and use it like an external drive?

Sure, pull the drive and put it in your computer.

I fail to see the highly technical-ness of this thread though?

i thought it would be...so you really can do that? what is the interface of an average laptop drive? i didn't know that they just connected like a regular hard drive...sata for example.
