Removing plastic hub caps

I'd like to take them off my car (please don't ask), but they're holding up pretty tightly.

They've got plastic clips without the metal retaining ring, so far as I can tell, but something in the middle is holding the hubcap down (all clips can come out without the hubcap coming off). The plastic "lug nuts" can turn, if that means anything.

Is it just a matter of pulling really hard? I don't want to break anything.

a lot of those are held on with the lug nuts too...jack it up and undo the lug nuts.

the plastic ones are threaded (just a little bit) and spin off with the lug wrench (iirc)

What kind of car is this?

And yes, sometimes the cap is held on by some lugs, and not always all of them.

Yep, the hubcaps were held on by all the plastic lugs (which screwed into the actual lug nuts which held the wheel in place).
