if i took out a soundcard from a pci slot & insert it into another pci slot (on the same mobo),will XP recognize it as the same card & auto install its drivers or will XP see it as a new device & the user therefore has to install the drivers him/herself?

Auto-detected my X-Fi without interaction when I moved it from one slot to another to cure some random crackling noises. Damned X-Fi and nForce crap.

Hi, Pull it out and stick it in any PCI slot and Windoz will not care. PCI slots are wired in parallel and are not addressed. Only the card in the slot is addressed. Luck, Jim
