I want to remove win98 first ed from a harddrive at work and then install 98se on it. Can it be done without formating the drive? I know that the programs will have to be reinstalled, but will the data be intact?

How do I go about it?

You can just delete the Windows folder, and then do a re-install of Windows using the Second Edition disk. All your data should be intact, and the programs as well (maybe a few re-installations). Hope this helps.
