Removing mystery web server - Help Please?

I am trying to setup Apache web server, but was surprised to find out that the socket was already taken.

Upon investigation, it appears that I have some sort of server running... the page shown at localhost reads:

error '8002801c'

Error accessing the OLE registry.

/iisHelp/common/500-100.asp, line 17

A long while ago, I had Visual Studio set up on this machine... it and other components were probably removed out of order, I suspect this is the reason for the mystery server.

I'm at a loss on how to troubleshoot this... Does anyone know what;s going on? How do I remove it? I'm running XP Pro...

Check in Add/Remove Programs /Windows Features if you have the personal web server installed, it looks like IIS (which is PWS in XP) is installed.

Perfect, I removed IIS (it was actually called IIS) and it's working again! Thank you!
