Removing Horizontal Rules in Word

So I'm writing a paper and had to change the formatting to have no horizontal rules. Unfortunately, Word will not let me delete them, shrink them, or even move them. Even if I try to copy parts of the text into a new file, horizontal rules pop up in random places. Does anyone known how to get rid of these things?

You know I was just dealing with something like this five minutes ago. Are they lines in the middle of a document that you cannot select to delete them?

For me it turned out to be a boarder applied to a paragraph.

Put your insertion mark right below the line then:

Format->Borders and Shading...

You should see that one side of a boarder is applied to the paragraph. On the left hand side you can select the "None" option and then it should be gone.

Haha, yeah I just found this solution as well. I opened a new Word document and did the same thing (typed a bunch of hyphens in a line then hit return). Found out it's called a border line, then entered that in help. Thanks! :beer:

I've been pulling my hair out over these things since back in the day. I really don't like Word, but I guess it's here to stay.
