I need some advice on how to remove my chipset heatsink. I have a Thunder K7 and want to replace the chipset heatsink with a larger hsf. What is the best way to remove the existing hs, and then attach the new hsf since there are no clips.

Thanks in advance.

there should be some pegs holding down the heatsink on the chipset, so you'll have to take the motherboard out of the case. Take some pliers, go underneath the mobo and push the pins together on the pegs, and just take both of them out. once the pegs are out, the heatsink should just fall off since it's not usualyl held on with any epoxy or anything. If it is, try taking a razer blade and prying it off or something. GL......

Why u wanna remove tht HS & replace w/ a bigger HSF? The MSI K7 is very stable even thou the northbridge is w/o fan. I suggest u stick w/ the HS...u might mess up a already good mobo.
