So i was a football game and I got ran\ slide into by a player while taking pictures. When i tryed to move out of the way my camera went to my waist and either hit a button on my short or the zipper on my pants or the belt it self... Its not a horrid scratch it just irritates me and was wondering how to do something about it?

Its about an inch long slightly diagonal from left to right, around the upper middle.

I hope to god there is a way to get rid of it, i really can't post pictures with out many mirrors ;)

The actual LCD has a protective layer of glass. The scratch will not affect pictures at all - the LCD has limited functions - menus, quick check on an exposure, etc.

But, you might be able to polish it out carefully with a soft cloth and a bit of silver polish or jeweler's rouge

Ah yes - the hazards of live sports photography.

The protective layer is actually pretty cheap and user replaceable. Call Canon.
(note: I know it is on the 20/30D's, almost sure about the Xti/400D's.)

i have to wonder if some 2000 grit automotive sand paper would work, though i doubt you'd want to wet sand your camera

I've got a clear protective screen on my D80, which came with it.

If you do manage to buff it out, I assume them make them for the 400D ;)

My advice would be to obtain a peice of plastic/glass that is the same material as the screen, scratch that and practice different ways of buffing it out, before you try the actual screen.

That way you don't make the problem worse.

I don't know what material the screen is, but I'm sure someone on here can tell you.

I learned this the hard way tring to remove scratches from a projection tv screen.
