Removing directx in Win2k Pro?

I just was putting a new machine together, and went to install the Directx 8a drivers in win2k. When it was about to reboot something froze and the system locked up. I went to reboot and it was blue screening after that, I ran a repair and everything seems fine now. When I went to try to upgrade them again it says there are files missing, I thought maybe try to uninstall directx and try again but I can't find a win2k complaint remover, anyone know of one?
