Removing device drivers under 98

I need to remove the driver for the second ide controller and reinstall it (Update wont work and i cant remove it from the device driver list as it is linked in wit h the primary controller which i cant remove...i dont think...) so how can i go about this? Thanks

Have you tried updating from Device Manager? Anyway, I don't know if you can update the secondary controller without updating the primary one.

Yeah, it doesnt find an update one because im trying to install the same one again because thet one it running now isnt working properly, at present i have no secondary drives (CD)

what m/board & is there an exclaimation mark next to the controller?
while your in device manager, click the upper tab for the performance page. are you in dos compatibility mode?

This is how I deal with win98 device drivers. Reboot into safe mode. Remove drivers. Reboot. Don't let windows autoinstall it. Go and when you try to install the new drivers, specificly direct it towards the version you what it to use.
